GREAT HARWOOD

Middle Dean

Dean Clough is approximately two and a half miles long and is divided into three distinct and roughly equal sections. The upper valley is occupied by the reservoir in the middle section the stream flows through farm land and the lower valley is covered by the trees of Dean Wood.

Bowley Hill and misty Pendle
The flat topped hill is Bowley but even through the heat haze Pendle Hill dominates.
A bit of useless information
"Pen" is from the ancient British language and means hill.

"dle" is from the old Norse language and means hill

"Hill" is from the modern English ............. you get the idea
Looking north west from the southern end of Goldacre Lane
which runs across the valley to the east of the reservoir
Bit of res and fields
and north east. Bowley is on the right.Above Dean Brook
I'll borrow one of those cameras that take panoramic photos someday.
It may look relatively flat but the brook flows in a steep sided valley between the viewer and the white houses.
