| The Will of William Mercer 1611 Lancashire Record Office WCW /1611/Mercer, William In the name of God Amen the three and twenteth daie of November in the eight yeare of [ ] our Soveraign Lord James by the Grace of God Kinge of England France and Irelande defender of the faithe And of Scotland the fowre and forteth ib is (?) I William Marser of muche Harwood sonne of Richard Mercer of the same towne in the Countie of Lancaster yeoman beinge sicke in bodie but whole in mind goode and perfecte remembrance praysed by God knowinge that Death to all men is most certaine and the [ ] and tyme thereof most uncertaine doe make my laste will and testament in manner and forme followinge and principallie I give and bequeath my soule unto Almightie God my maker and redeemer trusting the mercies death and passion of Jesus Christe to be one of those which shalbe saved and my bodie to be buried in Christian burial at Harwoodde where my frende shall thinke most fitt and conveniente and gyve for my burial as the custom dothe require. Secondlie I will that all my detts shalbe firste paied of my goods onlie and trulie and after my detts be dischareged I will that all my goods be equallie divided into three parts Viz: one to my selve the seconde to Ellen my wyffe and the third to Richard Mercer Thomas Mercer and Jennett Mercer my three children equallie to be divided amongst them. Item my Will is that I be broughte forthe honestlie after my death accordinge to my callinge of my parte of goods and I will that the remainder of my parte of goodes after that my funeral expenses be discharged remaine whole and solelie to Jennett Mercer my daughter and I gyve and bequeath to Richard Mercer my sonne the intereste good will and tenement right that I have of all my tenement trustinge that my maister the Landlorde thereof wilbe goode maister unto hyme. Fynallie I constitute ordaine and make Ellen my wyffe and Christopher Marcer of Symonstone my uncle my true and lawefull executors to see this my laste will performed fulfilled and keppte as my especiall truste is in theme.
