Edward Hodgson

Edward was member of the Hodgson family that over the years has provided many plasterers to Gt. Harwood; he was listed as a plasterer in 1841. It seems that soon after this census he was married and in 1851 he was an Innkeeper and farmer of 32 acres living at Crossgates, this is the Lomax Arms. He didn't do all the work himself having two servants living at the pub who were agricultural labourers.

He was still at the Lomax in 1861 but farming only 6 acres with just a 71 year old farm servant to help. In 1871 he was living at the Lomax but seemingly in retirement having given up running the pub and farming just one acre of land.
